Montgomery Gentry are gearing up to release their new seven-track EP Outskirts, out June 14. Recorded prior to Troy Gentry’s death in the fall of 2017, the EP includes a stunning cover of Merle Haggard’s 1983 hit “What Am I Gonna Do (With the Rest of My Life),” which Billboard premieres exclusively below.

The heartbreaking ballad features Eddie Montgomery on lead vocals. The song’s stark production includes delicate percussion and soaring pedal-steel accompaniment, further allowing Haggard’s poignant lyrics and the emotion felt in Montgomery’s vocals to shine.

“KING OF THE WORLD,” MONTGOMERY GENTRY’S NEW VIDEO FEATURING EDDIE MONTGOMERY, PREMIERES ON FOX NEWS ENTERTAINMENT TODAY

Montgomery Gentry’s Eddie Montgomery’s new video, “King of the World,” premiering today on Fox News Entertainment, is an adoring look at the world through the eyes of a dog whose master can do no wrong. Co-directed by Ed Pryor and Grant Claire for Hideout Pictures, the new video and song was featured on Montgomery Gentry’s latest album, “Here’s To You,” released in early 2017. Click here to view “King of the World.”

Written by Troy Jones, the quirky but catchy song features the rough-hewn baritone of Eddie Montgomery. “When I heard it, I immediately thought of my neighbor,” commented Montgomery. “I call him ‘my crazy-a** Cajun buddy’ and this song is him.” “King of the World” was shot at a cabin just outside of Nashville Tennessee.

With a full summer tour schedule planned, Eddie Montgomery and band continue to thrill audiences with the legendary Montgomery Gentry sound. From major festivals to small intimate clubs, Montgomery Gentry fans will have abundant opportunities to hear the new music from this powerful, award-winning entertainer.
